“Golden Bachelor” Gerry Turner often speaks about his grief over the death of his wife Toni. However, he has dated several women since his wife’s death. In fact, he was on vacation with a former girlfriend when the producers of “Golden Bachelor” called to tell him he had been chosen to star in the series. Turner told Access Hollywood.
The details about Turner’s post-Toni dating life also come from his girlfriend Heather Lanning, who works at The Shady Nook near his Indiana home, and his 91-year-old father.
Turner told Access Hollywood that he has remained close to the girlfriend he was on vacation with, but she wants nothing to do with the show. Lannon and Turner’s father spoke exclusively to the US Sun.
Turner narrowed the contestants down to two finalists: Theresa Nist and Leslie Fhima. However, according to his father’s interview, he is no stranger to having to choose between two women in the past.
However, Turner has also struggled with lonely times since his wife’s death. The New York Times reported that Turner texted his daughters to reveal that he had applied for The Golden Bachelor in 2020 during a “time of loneliness,” and they initially thought he was joking.
He insisted on gaining access to Hollywood that he is on the show for the right reason, because he really wants to find a partner.

Turner told Access Hollywood that he was on vacation in February and received a call: “I need to go to a clinic immediately for an STD test.” He replied: “Really, right now? I’m on vacation, so to speak.”
He said he was “actually dating a former girlfriend. We remained good friends.”
Turner said of the ex-girlfriend: “She looked at me like, ‘What the fuck?'”
Turner said she knew he was “in that process.” He said he wanted the background check to “wait until tomorrow,” noting he passed the STD test.
“She’s made it clear that she wants nothing to do with it,” he said when the Access Hollywood host asked if the ex-girlfriend could stage a return appearance on the show.
Live Mint reported that Turner was on vacation in Florida when he received the call.

Lannon told the Sun that Turner “was with a few women for a while, but it just didn’t work out.”
She said the relationships didn’t work out because “I think it depends on whether you’re there for the right reason or not,” but she didn’t explain what she meant.
According to Lannon, Turner met or was introduced to the women at the Shady Nook and was not on “dating apps.”
Turner told Access Hollywood that it was “fun” to be the Golden Bachelor. Several years after Toni’s death, he told Access Hollywood that he had a hard time accepting her suggestion that he should be happy after her death.
“I’m tired of being alone. I don’t want to be alone anymore,” Turner told Access Hollywood.

The Sun also spoke exclusively Turner’s father, Everett Turner, is 91 years old. He told the website that Gerry Turner “had two girlfriends in high school, Toni and another young girl.”
He chose Toni after his mother insisted he choose Toni, the father told The Sun.
“His mother told him, ‘You can’t do that, son. “You have to choose one or the other. “He chose Toni,” Everett Turner told The Sun.
According to Turner’s father, after Toni’s death, his son dated the woman he had rejected in high school because of Toni, but it didn’t work out.
“After Toni died, he went out with this girl. They would go to lunch. She lives in another state. It wasn’t anything serious. He just went on a date with her,” Everett Turner told The Sun.
Turner himself told the story a little differently. he told People Magazine that before he and Toni dated in high school, he was actually interested in her best friend, but “the best friend had absolutely no interest in me.”
He told People: “I remember standing there chatting with Toni and talking about her best friend. Suddenly I thought, ‘Well, what the hell?’ This girl seems really nice and a good conversationalist.’”
He told the magazine that they first went to a dance: “Back in Ottumwa, Iowa, where I lived, there was a dance every Friday at the YMCA; there would be a band and so on. So I invited Toni to a dance at the YMCA for the first time. We dated pretty regularly over the next four or five years.” They married in 1972, had two children together and then she died in 2017.
