That is, until now. The song, titled “An Old Fashioned Christmas (Daddy’s Home),” has gone viral on TikTok as several users shared their reactions to the video, including a user of the platform named Laura (@young.muppet).

She says that while the song starts out like any old, cheesy-sounding Christmas song, it becomes “increasingly unhinged and frightening.”

Laura encourages everyone else to listen to the song, but implores them to ignore the comments section and just look it up and listen without prior knowledge to what other people on the platform, like this gentleman here, did while recording it their live reactions.

Calling it a journey is quite an understatement.

How did Laura even come across such a title? Remember the not-so-good old days when people burned each other’s CDs to share music? Well, one year at a Christmas party her parents were throwing, Laura said that a family friend had come with a CD of what he thought were the worst Christmas songs ever made.

This CD contained the now infamous Linda Bennett track. But there were other people who claimed years ago that “An Old Fashioned Christmas (Daddy’s Home)” was the worst Christmas song ever recorded, just like this Riverfront Times argued so passionately in a 2011 article about the route.

The outlet even highlighted the efforts of Fox News, who reportedly spent a year trying to locate Linda Bennett to discuss the song. When Fox After finally being able to get in touch, she says she doesn’t even remember recording the song. Which is believable considering she “had an extensive career in the ’50s and ’60s, appearing on various TV shows and on Bob Hope’s USO tour.”

Judging by the sheer number of people who love to hate the song, perhaps it’s for the best that Linda has forgotten it even existed.
