Filming for Mortal Kombat 2 continues, Karl Urban shares new set photo

The Mortal Kombat Production on the film’s sequel is back on track following the end of the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes.
At Instagram, Mortal Kombat 2 Actor Karl Urban, who plays Johnny Cage in the upcoming film, has shared a new picture from the set. The photo shows Urban with several of his co-stars, each of whom is pointing two fingers at the camera. A closer look at a set trailer in the photo also shows one MK2 Logo along with the name Jax Briggs, who is played by Mehcad Brooks in the sequel. Brooks is also seen in the photo, with Urban noting in the post’s caption, “We’re back baby!” MK2. Let’s go!! I love this cast.”
Johnny Cage was mentioned in the previous film despite not appearing on screen, and Urban makes his debut as the character in this film Mortal Kombat 2. Other new additions to the cast include Tati Gabrielle as Jade, Adeline Rudolph as Kitana, CJ Bloomfield as Baraka, Ana Thu Nguyen as Sindel, Desmond Chiam as King Jerrod and Martyn Ford as Shao Kahn. Return from the first Mortal Kombat are Lewis Tan as Cole Young, Jessica McNamee as Sonya Blade, Mehcad Brooks as Jax Briggs, Tadanobu Asano as Raiden, Ludi Lin as Liu Kang, Joe Taslim as Bi-Han, Hiroyuki Sanada as Scorpion, Chin Han as Shang Tsung, Max Huang as Kung Lao and Josh Lawson as Kano.
Filming for the sequel began in June and was expected to be completed by September. However, due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, production was halted in July. Since many postponed projects experienced significant delays, it was unclear when Mortal Kombat 2 could be picked up again, but the project is likely to have a pretty high priority at Warner Bros. Priority list. With no announced release date announced for the film, there has been no official delay and with filming getting back on track, it shouldn’t be long before the film hits theaters.
