Gyeongseong Creature: Everything We Know About the Netflix K-Drama

One of Netflix’s most anticipated K-dramas in 2023 is Han So-hee and Park Seo-joon’s historical fantasy thriller Gyeongseong Creature. Here’s everything we know about the K-drama.

Fans couldn’t have asked for a better cast than My Name star Han So-hee and new MCU star Park Seo-joon. Gyeongseong Creature was originally announced in January 2022, with the two actors confirmed for the lead roles. The K-drama would be a rarity alongside the success of “Sweet Home,” as it was announced before the official premiere that a second season had been greenlit.

Official stills of the K-drama were released during the Netflix 2023 Tudum event, but there was still a long way to go before an official first teaser look. Fans finally got a teaser to hold them over until its release at the end of December during Geeked Week on Netflix.

Gyeongseong Creature promises a unique historical storyline set in 1945 between two characters and a city overrun by humans and monsters.

Gyeongseong Creature: What is the K-drama about?

A rich and likeable male protagonist meets a young woman who is skilled at finding people. Together they face hidden horrors, as monsters created out of greed pose a deadly threat.

Accordingly NetflixThe plot of Gyeongseong Creature states: “Set in early 1945, when Korea was under Japanese colonial rule, the series revolves around two young adults who encounter strange creatures born of greed and then settle in the city of Gyeongseong – now known as Seoul – having to fight for survival. But it turns out there may be something out there even more dangerous than the creatures themselves.”

Park Seo-joon has been announced to star as Jang Tae-sang, a wealthy man who is best at gathering information. Meanwhile, Han So-hee plays Yoon Chae-ok, a strong-willed woman who, as Todogun, is adept at finding missing people. Traveling through China with her father, she learned to survive. When her mother goes missing ten years ago, she goes to Gyeongseong in search of answers.

Gyeongseong Creature has Tae-sang begin investigating a series of missing person cases, crossing paths with Chae-ok. His sense of justice changes after he meets her. K-drama fans may be wondering where the title “Gyeongseong Creature” comes from. Gyeongseong was the original name of the Korean capital before it became Seoul.

Gyeongseong Creature: When is the release date?

Part 1 of the K-drama is scheduled to release on December 22, 2023. on Netflix. It is speculated that the first half will consist of 10 episodes in total.

Gyeongseong Creature surprised fans when they learned that it was going to be split into two parts. Part 2 is scheduled to be released on Netflix sometime before 2024 on January 5th. It is speculated that with three episodes, there will be much fewer episodes to round out the plot. But that’s not all, as it was also announced that Gyeongseong Creature will be developing a second season.

Accordingly Soompicame news that Han and Park would be reprising their roles, and season 2 was greenlit before filming was even completed on the first season.

Gyeoseong Creature: Is there a trailer?

Currently, Netflix has only released official stills and a teaser during Geeked Week 2023. The teaser added to the anticipation by telling that a hospital in Gyeongseong in 1945 had both humans and monsters. Fans see workers in protective gas suits and possible toxins in the air. This is soon followed by a bloodied Tae-sang wielding a shotgun. An injured and battered Chae-ok runs through a hallway with her own gun. They try to survive together.

During Tudum 2023, fans got their first glimpse of Chae-ok’s impressive fighting skills. It also teased the growing relationship between her and Tae-sang. Check it out below:
