Logan Paul admits his “heroic” act in saving Rey Mysterio’s life “almost killed” him

WWE United States Champion and influencer Logan Paul reflected on a much-discussed moment from his last match in which WWE veteran Rey Mysterio almost landed directly on his neck, He admitted that what many thought was quick thinking was actually a misstep by Logan Paul.

Logan Paul defeated Rey Mysterio at WWE’s recent Crown Jewel event to win his first-ever United States title. While many viewers and industry stars praised the game, one particular part of the fight caught a lot of attention.

The spot in question was when Rey Mysterio did a backflip off the ropes and landed almost directly on his head. Logan Paul quickly thought about jumping down and catching the WWE veteran before he landed and potentially caused some serious damage.

That’s why many online praised Logan Paul for his last-minute save, a moment the influencer-turned-WWE star spoke about in his latest episode IMPAULSIVE Podcast.

Reflecting on this moment, Paul expressed that it was a frightening incident and that he believed his quick thinking saved Rey Mysterio’s life. However, he also admitted that things could have turned out very badly if he hadn’t managed to catch him.

“Look, I’m going to be honest because I’ve been seeing all these positive headlines right: ‘Logan saves Rey Mysterio,’ the Mexican community is going crazy, they’re praising me and saying I’m some kind of hero and so I’m like, damn, I get recognized for doing something cool, I guess.

“When I evaluate my performance, although I believe that I saved Rey Mysterio’s life, I also think that I almost killed Rey Mysterio.”

The new United States Champion then went into more detail about the incident and how his positioning contributed to Rey Mysterio almost getting injured.

“I think I was too far back for the train and I think he didn’t clear enough ground for the train, that’s what happened like… I was too far back and he didn’t clear enough ground, we did “I both made a mistake and I had to catch him and I honestly didn’t want to catch him, even though I like the headlines and I like getting stuffed like that, I was just doing my job.”
