Melee tournament raises nearly $20,000 for Palestine

Netplay for Palestine 2 was a charity tournament held online on November 12th Super Smash Bros. Melee Player. The scene miraculously came together to provide financial support to the victims in Gaza.

The competition received over 300 registrations, including top players like Salt, Zamu, Ben and KJH. The games were broadcast on MeleeEveryday and Level1’s Twitch channels to showcase high-profile games Close combat play while raising awareness for the cause. And it absolutely worked – the tournament surpassed its $10,000 goal and currently stands at $17,142.

The proceeds from this tournament will benefit this MECA, a nonprofit direct assistance organization which helps families in Palestine, Iraq and Lebanon. Direct provision provides Palestinians with the resources they need to survive, which is crucial considering they are currently deprived of essentials such as sustainable food and clean water.

The Close combat The tournament also aimed to provide Palestinians with a platform to share their stories and art. Whether they spoke on stream or submitted something in writing, their voices were heard, taught us about their culture, and informed everyone of the unfortunate reality of their current situation.

The current situation in Palestine is serious, so more events like this need to be organized to provide financial assistance and demonstrate solidarity with Palestine. With the support of thousands of people, we can provide nonprofits like MECA with the money they need to directly help the victims of these horrific attacks in Palestine. Better yet, we can listen to those whose identities and families are threatened by the misinformation about the Palestine-Israel conflict and educate ourselves so that we can develop compassion for the people of Palestine.
