A 41-year-old Gulfport, Mississippi man is under arrest after he allegedly brutally stabbed a woman more than 50 times in the face and body while her daughter tried to fight him off.
Gulfport police arrested Nicholas Leshaun Unger on Nov. 8, documents reviewed show on-line from Law & Crime. Unger remains in jail on a $250,000 bond and is charged with aggravated domestic violence.
According to the local outlet WXXVOn Nov. 8, officers responded to reports of an active assault around 3 p.m. and said they found Unger’s victim with stab wounds to the face and body.
Authorities said Unger came to the woman’s apartment – it’s unclear whether he also lived there – and began attacking her after getting into a “verbal altercation” outside the property. He then allegedly followed the woman into the house, grabbed a knife and began stabbing her.
The woman was able to temporarily escape from Unger and disappeared into a back bedroom of her home while her daughter tried to break up the melee. Unger still managed to enter the room and continue his attack, police said.
According to WXXV, the woman is in the hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.
Public arrest records do not yet indicate whether Unger has retained an attorney.
