Target's CEO talks about permanent decision to close on Thanksgiving

As the holiday shopping season approaches, Target’s CEO weighs in on keeping stores closed on Thanksgiving.

Brian Cornell issued a statement last week about its decision to keep stores closed for the holidays.

He said when he heard how much the staff appreciated the time off, he knew it was an easy thing to do.

“Keeping our stores closed on Thanksgiving is possible because we have built our team – and Target’s strong business model – to meet our guests’ holiday needs both during and well outside of store hours,” Cornell said.

Walmart also announced it would close its doors on Thanksgiving.
