The exact Aldi shopping list to grab an ‘absolutely delicious’ three-course Christmas meal for six AND get change from £20

IT can be one of the most expensive meals of the year.
But a mum has revealed how to save money on Christmas dinner – by sharing the exact shopping list she used to pick up ingredients for a festive feast for six at Aldi for under £20.
“These meals were so good,” said Nicola Metcalfe, 35, from West Yorkshire, in one Video on her TikTok page.
“You’ll need a shrimp cocktail, some Brussels pate, small salad, half-baked baguettes, a large chicken and four large potatoes – the largest you can find.”
“A 500g bag of carrots, a bag of Brussels sprouts, roast potato seasoning, stuffing, pigs in blankets.
“Two raspberry rolls, some double cream, ready-made vanilla pudding, a block of strawberry jelly and a bar of Essentials chocolate.”
The total came to £19.98, meaning Nicola got change from her £20 note.
“I think when it comes to Christmas, everyone has their own traditions,” she said.
“But this is exactly what my family would eat. And hopefully many of you will like it too.”
“As you will see in this video, I believe this can feed up to six people because there is so much left over.”
She started by slicing the half-baked baguette and lightly toasting it.
She then spread pate over them and served them in lettuce cups with plain slices of bread, butter and shrimp cocktail.
“There’s something for everyone to try,” she said.
“I love pie and this was really tasty!”
For the main course, and Nicola cooked a whole chicken.
“Just because it’s Christmas, I don’t want to put a lot of pressure on cooking Christmas dinner,” she said.
“We like to stick with what we know and what we would normally eat.”
She cooked chicken, fried potatoes, mashed potatoes, carrots, Brussels sprouts, stuffing and pork in blankets.
She also made some gravy and had to serve her grandmother a meal since there was so much left over.
“And if that wasn’t enough, there’s dessert,” she said.
“I think traditionally dessert at Christmas is a trifle, so this is a take on a trifle, but I’m going to mix it up a little.”
“I use the raspberry sponge rolls, cut them into pieces, layer them with cream, garnish them with custard, jelly and melted chocolate.
“And finally some powdered sugar and some grated chocolate on top.”
She also made it into a wreath form by placing a bowl in the center and then removing it when she was finished.
“This was an absolutely lovely dessert and would probably feed up to eight people,” concluded Nicola.
People were quick to take to the comments section, with one writing: “So many families are on such tight budgets. While it may not be ‘traditional Christmas dinner’, what you’ve done with £20 is amazing!”
“My sister got so tired of worrying about the pressure of Christmas dinner that it’s now become their tradition to order takeaway,” replied Nicola.
“I’m going to do exactly this for Christmas, just me and three kids so it’s perfect,” another added.
“This will be so helpful for so many families this Christmas. Congratulations on sharing this,” a third commented.
“The only thing missing is Yorkshire puds,” wrote another.
To which Nicola replied: “That was the plan lol, but they didn’t have any fresh sprouts so they had to spend more on frozen food.”
“But if you buy fresh you can still get the Yorkshires for under £20.”
