Lisa and Nate’s tumultuous relationship led to a surprising twist in the plot of “Six Feet Under.”

After episodes of fighting, Lisa goes missing in Season 3, Episode 10, “Everyone Leaves.” The police tell Nate that they found Lisa dead in the season three finale. But how did her body end up on the beach?

Lisa’s death remained a mystery for most of Six Feet Under’s fourth season.

Hoyt had an affair with Lisa and they met on the beach. When confronted by Nate, Hoyt admitted to the affair. At first he suspected that Lisa had taken her own life due to Lisa and Nate’s marital problems.
However, Nate wasn’t convinced. “She could leave me, but she would never leave Maya,” he explained.
A tearful Hoyt never explicitly confessed to killing Lisa, but the fact that he took his own life moments later in front of Nate and his own wife Barbara strongly suggested that Hoyt had murdered Lisa on the beach. Six feet under left the details of Lisa’s death vague, even when she returned as a recurring vision in seasons 4 and 5.

Audiences continue to debate the details of Lisa’s death to this day, wanting to know what led to Hoyt killing her and exactly how the tragic situation unfolded. Given the revelation of infidelity, it is widely assumed that Lisa either wanted to end the affair or tell Nate about it, which drove Hoyt crazy.
