Candi attended Samford University, where she met Jimbo, who was then the quarterback of the school’s football team. The two met in 1989 and eventually married. During their relationship, the couple had two children together, Trey and Ethan. Ethan suffers from Fanconi anemia, which is why Candi began raising awareness about the disease. Trey, meanwhile, followed in his father’s footsteps and played quarterback at the University of Tennessee at Martin.

Jimbo’s record is just 19-15 in his last two seasons with the team, and the team has also snapped a nine-game losing streak on the road. Despite what was widely regarded as excellent recruiting, the team failed to produce the results on the field that many had hoped for.

“It just wasn’t right to give confidence to everyone in the program,” Ross said. “You have to adapt, you have to evolve. I won’t say whether he did it or not, but it didn’t work.”

Defensive coach Elijah Robinson will assume head coaching duties for the time being and the team will finish the season with him at the helm.
