Worst UK airport for delays revealed – where does your local airport rank?

BIRMINGHAM Airport was the worst airport for flight delays for the second year in a row.

Last year 10.3 million people used Birmingham – the seventh largest.

The airport said it was “running smoothly” this year – the first since 2020 not to have been hit covid.

A Birmingham Airport spokesman said: “The start of 2022 has been ravaged by Covid.

“Following the lifting of travel restrictions, the airline industry has struggled to recover.

“This year, the first since 2020 not affected by Covid, our airport is running smoothly and customers are expected to match or exceed pre-pandemic numbers.

“Customers using Birmingham Airport this summer can expect changes in walking routes as we build our new £40m Concourse, due for completion by June 2024.”
